Check the written scope, not a guessed fair price

This tool organizes what you enter. It cannot read the original proposal, diagnose your furnace, inspect an installation or decide whether a contractor’s price is fair. An empty field may already be answered in your document. Check it before asking for clarification.

Use each status deliberately

Included means the proposal expressly covers it. Excluded means it expressly leaves it out. Not stated means the document is silent. Unclear means the wording needs clarification. Not applicable means the item has been confirmed unnecessary for this job. Neither a blank entry nor an exclusion is a zero-dollar allowance.

Record the exact furnace and installation plan

Enter the furnace model, fuel, AFUE and heating input in Btu/h from the proposal. The checklist asks about exhaust, combustion air, gas connections, condensate, removal, permits, labor and handover. These are questions for the installer, not instructions to perform gas or electrical work.

Your entries stay in this browser

Processing happens on this device. Only “Save on this device” writes a local draft, and later edits require saving again. A saved draft is offered for explicit loading. “Clear saved draft” removes it; “Start blank” clears the screen. Downloads and printed copies remain wherever you save them. Do not include an address, payment information or personal contact details.

Ready for a second installation quote?

Use the questions to ask a contractor for an itemized furnace replacement proposal. Make clear that you want an installation assessment, and describe which AC equipment you hope to keep. This website currently does not arrange contractor referrals or provide a quote-review telephone service.
